Squash Wall Survey Results

L&G’s,

Attached are the survey results of the question asking you for your thoughts on the replacement or repair of the front wall on Court 2.

I have edited the remarks only to try and capture the essence in a shorter sentence or to remove any personal elements that reveal who people are or are derogatory about me! You will probably recognise your own entry anyway.

First off thanks for bothering to reply, we wanted to know what the wider Club thought because you are going to have to live with it for some time.

To summarise the key messages coming back.

The majority, 84% of replies are in favour of the modular system.
Key points in its favour are the consistency of bounce and play and the cost effectiveness of a 10 year solution.
A minority prefer plaster walls but recognise the maintenance and consequent deterioration of the surface causing rogue returns is a down side.
The big complaint from all and sundry is the noise from the modular system.

What are we going to do?

We will investigate the options for a second modular wall carefully with particular emphasis on if there are any mitigating actions we can take to quieten the noise down. All options are open, we may need to look at the rest of the court design and introduce some noise reducing features.

In short if anyone knows a squash court noise reduction specialist who can assist at Burghfield Club rates, think low and then half it….. we need to speak to them.

As the review progresses I will share any significant developments with you and of course the proposed way forward.

Last comment on a related topic. The old style lights are being re lamped in Court 2 the weekend of 13/14th May. I intend to look into converting to LED’s. Cost wise this may have to follow on but I’ll investigate the options and costs and we will pursue it as funds become available. Again this change reduces the maintenance liability.
