Robot Cleaner

Robot Cleaner

We have invested in a new robot cleaner to clean the courts remotely in the off periods. This is successfully used at Temple Wycombe so we are adopting the practise.

There will be some teething problems as we bed it in, not least we haven’t named it yet so all suggestions welcomed on that front.

The idea is we leave the wee beast in the Court overnight and it does its thing. For it to work we need someone to put it on patrol last thing at night and then the first person to play the next day on that court collects it and puts it back on its charger under the desk in the foyer. What could go wrong!

We do need to get some new arrangements for the power. We have lashed up a temporary fix for Court 1 but Court 2 needs a longer lead so that we can get the base station to it without trailing it across the floor. We tried it without the base station in Court 2 and found the beast the next day distressed and very forlorn in a corner.

Currently we only have one machine on trial. If it is successful subject to the implementation difficulties described above being overcome we will get a second.

As ever any issues or good ideas please speak to me or anyone on the Committee.

Regards

Richard May
