Box Match Score Results Input
Apologies for the lack of forewarning however the Box Match results can now be input on the My Courts system including the full game scores.
We knew this development was coming but were awaiting an implementation date before announcing it. Unfortunately the My Courts system has been updated without telling us in advance of the date. We were keen to implement this as it helps with the Squash Levels system but had intended to explain it in advance.
So if you have ticked the box in the My Courts system to share your results with Squash Levels the full scores will now go through which will help them in their allocation of points against their pre-existing algorithms. The tick box for sharing results with Squash Levels can be found in your Box League section just below the Box League grid.
The Team players are used to seeing that their efforts in Team matches for better or worse appear in Squash Levels. Our Internal Box Matches are also included in Squash Levels when both players are signed up and inputting full scores will improve the system. The end result is all of the players in the Club are ranked with points similar to what you see in Tennis albeit at our level we have a lot less points. This is helpful when selecting the teams as by and large the players with the most points are highest in the order of play. Team Captains can tweak the order of play for matches to reflect injuries or other issues affecting a player, an example would be a higher ranked player coming back after a long absence will need to be gradually re introduced. This gets harder the older you get as it takes longer to get back up to match fitness. You will occasionally see on Court some of the players practising doing routines or rule games to restrict some movement or to sharpen certain shots. Often this is linked to players working their way back up to match level.
Anyway, I encourage you all to tick the Box to share your results and hope that putting the actual scores in isn’t too onerous. We did some blind testing randomly to see if our players remembered the scores of their last Box Match and the results were very encouraging. Clearly for better or worse most of us retain the scores for some time.
As ever any issues please speak to me.
Regards
Richard May
